The migration of criminals from the pacified favelas to the suburbs of the Baixada Fluminense (Rio’s Greater Metropolitan Region) has caused local authorities to be on their guard.
The mayor of Duque de Caxias, Alexandre Cardoso, announced that he will propose a plan to the state government for them to help bear some of the police expenses. Rent Doubles in Alemão — 417 Families Have 15 Days to Move Out

Since the Complexo do Alemão community was pacified in November of 2010, increased real estate values have caused sleepless nights for at least 417 families left homeless by higher rents. The increase has been greater than 100% in many cases.
