Activists began their protest in front of the Carrefour supermarket at the Norte Shopping mall and continued on Dom H\u00e9lder C\u00e2mara Avenue.<\/i><\/h4>\n

About 200 people protested on November 22, at 3pm, in front of the Carrefour supermarket at the Norte Shopping supermarket in the North Zone<\/a> of Rio de Janeiro, against the murder of\u00a0Afro-Brazilian, 40-year-old Jo\u00e3o Alberto Silveira Freitas<\/a>. Jo\u00e3o Beto, as he was known, was beaten and killed by two white security guards from the Grupo Vector<\/a> security firm, which provides its services to the Carrefour chain, on the eve of Brazilian Black Consciousness Day<\/a>. Activists raised banners and posters in three languages\u2014Portuguese, English and French\u2014and read speeches in all three languages.<\/span><\/p>\n
