Amid the coronavirus<\/a> pandemic, in the state with the highest mortality rate in Brazil<\/a>, nearing a\u00a0collapse in its health system<\/a>, and a thermal sensation of 40 degrees Celsius, residents of Rio de Janeiro faced water rationing in more than 30 of the city’s neighborhoods in December 2020, plus the Baixada Fluminense<\/a>, according to a survey done by Extra<\/em> newspaper<\/a>. In the favelas of Complexo do Alem\u00e3o<\/a>, Acari<\/a>, Complexo da Mar\u00e9<\/a>, Tabajaras<\/a>, Tuiuti<\/a>, Quitungo and Santa Marta<\/a>, taps had run dry since November 14, according to residents’ reports on social media.<\/p>\n
