{"id":75610,"date":"2023-10-14T12:14:46","date_gmt":"2023-10-14T15:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rioonwatch.org\/?p=75610"},"modified":"2023-10-23T09:29:40","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T12:29:40","slug":"ancestral-tale-poem-by-dudu-neves-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rioonwatch.org\/?p=75610","title":{"rendered":"Ancestral Tale: Poem by Dudu Neves [VIDEO]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe title=\"Conto Ancestral: Poesia de Dudu Neves\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JkIfF9SEoho\" width=\"1030\" height=\"563\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3pZLO0c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Clique aqui para Portugu\u00eas<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><em><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-23766\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rioonwatch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/PT-e1439583827971.png\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" \/><\/em><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Ancestral Tale<\/h3>\n<p>I can still hear the chains dragging,<br \/>\nthe whip leaving marks,<br \/>\nmarks I can still feel!<\/p>\n<p>I can still hear the police sirens sounding,<br \/>\nthe trigger being pulled,<br \/>\nshooting a boy from here!<\/p>\n<p>They dragged <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3tvLySI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cl\u00e1udia<\/a>!<br \/>\nPut <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2up8LI5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rafa Braga<\/a> in a cage!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2XZZwQE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marielle<\/a>&#8216;s dead, and they&#8217;re gonna come for me!<\/p>\n<p>So many wounds exposed!<br \/>\nGrief embedded in memory!<br \/>\nA child in school uniform, who couldn&#8217;t fight back!<\/p>\n<p>And I still have to resist!<br \/>\nAnd I still have to resist!<br \/>\nAnd I still have to resist!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/44OBmHX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ogunhi\u00ea<\/a>, don&#8217;t let me suffer so much like this!<br \/>\nOgunhi\u00ea, don&#8217;t let me suffer so much like this!<\/p>\n<p>I came from there, from the other side,<br \/>\nthey brought me here<br \/>\nI think their plan was to kill me here!<\/p>\n<p>I came from there, I&#8217;m from Africa.<br \/>\nBut where am I from?<br \/>\nSince Africa isn&#8217;t a country?<\/p>\n<p>They want to silence me,<br \/>\nerase my history,<br \/>\nconceal my ancestry!<\/p>\n<p>Put me to work,<br \/>\npay me minimum wage,<br \/>\nfor me to try and support myself in the crisis in this country!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3CcFEd5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bara<\/a>, may you watch over me!<br \/>\nFree me from the friskings, the cop car, the <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3Kolow1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slave catcher<\/a>!<br \/>\nFrom the <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3DWrKPH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sack Man<\/a> and stray bullet!<\/p>\n<p>So many lives were lost this way,<br \/>\ndreams mutilated,<br \/>\nbecause of melanin!<\/p>\n<p>So many poems were written this way,<br \/>\ninspired by pain,<br \/>\npain like that of Aunt Dolores, who felt the pain of losing her child!<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a country with no peace,<br \/>\nparents that procreate and can&#8217;t rear,<br \/>\nwhere money&#8217;s become a god, we&#8217;re born poor, we&#8217;re atheists.<\/p>\n<p>Capitalist system kills<br \/>\nevery day<br \/>\nover 71 of my people!<\/p>\n<p>And me? <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3ODpqTG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I walk with tranquility in the favela where I grew up<\/a>,<br \/>\nI want to walk with tranquility in the country where I was born,<br \/>\nbut I know my roots aren&#8217;t from here!<\/p>\n<p>This land is of a people with pointed arrows,<br \/>\nwith painted faces,<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/47bvt9j\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tup\u00e3<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3ipy4Eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guajajara<\/a>, a people that speak\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3Yi8Qfl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tupi<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>My flesh brought to a stolen land!<br \/>\nI was sold for gold and silver change!<br \/>\nWhile they screamed, &#8220;It&#8217;s a new homeland!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I asked for justice from <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2SPZDby\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Xang\u00f4<\/a>,<br \/>\nwhile the <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3MdVDhg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">caboclo<\/a> prayed along,<br \/>\nuntil the break of dawn!<\/p>\n<p>And, so, more ships arrived,<br \/>\nbodies from other peoples,<br \/>\nalso enslaved!<\/p>\n<p>They were children of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3kgMjwj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nan\u00e3<\/a>,<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/39rbv13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ians\u00e3<\/a>,<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/44OBmHX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ogum<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3Ok6WWQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Obaluai\u00ea<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3OnUjv3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atot\u00f4<\/a>!<br \/>\nOgunhi\u00ea!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3QkxABy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">K\u00e1w\u00f2-K\u00e1b\u00edy\u00e8s\u00ecl\u00e8<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>My people cried: \u201cK\u00e1w\u00f2, Xang\u00f4!
