Calm, family-oriented and full of natural charm: these words could be used to describe Sepetiba or its 16-year-old resident, Thamyres. During the week she studies at the Colégio Normal San Diego and takes a course in journalism. On the weekends, she cares for her five younger siblings and enjoys a bit of time on the beach by her house. Though she is quite satisfied with her life, Thamyres would like to discover new places and believes journalism will provide her this opportunity. Thamyres participates in the RioOnWatch community journalism course, and her articles appear on RioOnWatch.org thanks to the work of volunteer translators.
